I've been horribly lazy today! I finally got in the walk at around 2:30 this afternoon. I stayed up WAY too late last night and am contemplating a nap even as I type this! LOL!
Anyway, I got out and completed the walk in an absolutely beautiful day! Tomorrow is day 6 and marks the completion of week one of my InterCycle. Next week I begin alternating days of 2-mile walks and light bodyweight workouts and 1-mile runs. I hope that everyone has had a great day today and I wish you a…

NOTE: This blog is mainly for my BodySpace friends who are worried that I am totally leaving BodySpace. I've expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the changes made their and the slow remedy. However, the connections made there on the human scale need to be preserved, so I will continue there although I've lost the ability to track traffic to my blog, and my webpage that I had nurtured from 5,000 hits from year one to over 40,000 hits by year three of my membership. Furthermore the changes…

This is day 3 of my InterCycle! I made the mistake of getting on the scale today! LOL! Not eating much. However, the weight has gone up a bit.
Anyway, I got out there and got a very brisk walk in. Once again, I managed to break a good sweat. Then I actually got out of the house for a few hours and a little rest and relaxation! It was an enjoyable day. I came back, cooked dinner for the parents and now am going to take a 30 minute nap before going in the book. It…

We finally got a bit of winter here in Virginia. When snow was forecast for yesterday, we were not sure we were going to get it, or if we got it, whether it would stick or not. Well we got it and it stuck! LOL! When I got up to take the dog out this morning, it had stopped, but the ground was white. As the morning progressed, however, it began to melt and the ground is saturated with water and rapidly melting snow. What a mess! I did manage to get my yearly "snow picture" to post. I was…

My InterCycle, the three-week "cycle" between my six-week cycles began today. I decided to build in cycles of "active rest" and recovery between my major workout cycles. The idea was not to become totally inactive, but to sort of come down from the six-week cycle and then gradually work myself back into the new cycle. I also wanted to make sure that I don't lose all of my conditioning and have to spend half of the new cycle getting it back. It worked really well for me after Cycle 26. Plus,…

Cycle 27 is HISTORY! I had a good solid bodyweight workout, using the 20 pound weighted vest to conclude the workout. Before going outside to complete the workout, I hit 450 (5 x 90) push-ups and my stretching routine. After that the remainder of the workout was completed outside. It turned out to be a fairly enjoyable workout since the soon came out during the workout. I hit the plyometrics, and all of my bar work (hanging leg raises, pull-ups, chin-ups, windshield…

I went to bed a little after 9:00 last night. I had a great night's sleep, got up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. I pushed through the morning routine and was really excited about getting in today's planche training and ab workout......Then the workout started! LOL!
I had the hardest time getting into and maintaining a tuck planche today. I managed to get three, not so very good, tuck planches done. This carried over into the remainder of the workout. I got it done,…

I got my "old butt" in the bed on time last night after re-reading and editing book chapters (I will do more tonight) and had a really good night's sleep. I was awake this morning before the alarm went off and was up and into the morning routine a little quicker than normal. I went into the workout and had a pretty decent chest and back workout. One thing that I know now is that I am absolutely much STRONGER than I was two months ago. I am going to have to reconsider my workouts. I'm…

I've been consistently up at or before 5:00 in the morning for many months. Today was no different. I pushed through my early morning chores, coffee, Bible study, prayer, and any other tasks that might present themselves before doing the workout. This morning, however, right before the workout I became so sleepy that I actually felt sick. LOL!
I could not even imagine doing the workout. I decided that I needed to go back to bed. I slept for a good solid hour, got up, and was good…

I decided to do the 300 Workout, that would have normally been completed on last Friday, today. It was also a good move considering the rather long double that I did on yesterday. This morning started off extremely cold---17 degrees! Fortunately, by the time I got through my morning routine and ready for the workout, which was mostly outside, it had warmed up nicely. The 300 workout is now starting to go more like cardio. This is especially true given the fact that I exchanged the 30-pound…

Last week was a very emotional week and I allowed events to impact my diet. I took one day off last week to regain my bearings and get some perspective. I did return back to the workouts, but really let myself go with sweets and late night eating last week. When I weighed in I found that I was back up to 151.6 pounds, a gain of almost 3 pounds. On Thursday and Friday of last week, I began to get back on track. I also decided to revisit a strategy for fat burning that I had…

Well, I'm happy to say that Week 5 of Cycle 27 is complete. I had a great planche training session, in spite of tuck planche (arm) problems again, and ab workout and finished with a pretty strong run considering yesterday's leg workout. I managed to finish it in 20:21 (6:47 mile pace). Overall, I'm feeling pretty good. However, things are still a bit flat around here. Mom is a bit upset (more than she want to admit) about things with my cousin (her nephew), whose funeral is tomorrow,…

Today's leg workout was very satisfying! Although I dearly HATE the exercises that I have for this particular leg workout---squat thrusts and quad squats---I jumped into them with gusto! I guess perhaps, because I got off to a great start this morning. Everything in the morning routine was completed on time and I got to hit the workout early. While things aren't optimal right now in a lot of areas, perhaps the toughness of those 3 sets of 40 squat thrusts helped me to focus and put…

After just being out of rhythm, tired, and just plain bummed out on yesterday, I made sure that I got to bed last night on time. Actually BEFORE TIME! LOL!
In spite of all of this, 5:00 am came much too soon. I got up and got after the morning ritual and then went directly onto the chest and back workout! After taking yesterday off, the workout felt pretty good. All elements of the workout went well.
I went outside and hit my pull-ups, 1-mile walk and what I…

I did not sleep well last night. Indeed didn't feel like going to sleep last night and woke up at the usual time, pushed through most, but not ALL of my morning routine. After getting off to such a late start, I decided to take the day off from workouts! The arm was kind of sore this morning and my personal energy was very low today, as was the overall energy of the household today. Mom was not in good humor today and that sort of saps ones energy as well. My cousin's funeral is…

after a sucessful 1 year bulking program I was able to put on a good amount of mass. now I want to cut to get lean again and have abs for the summer before bulking again in the winter. My biggest fear is that in the cutting process I will lose my gains. so far so good. after a 5 lbs lost in 8 days still maintaining the strenght and the size. what happens a few months from now?
anyone out there that has been down this road, sure could use some advice on how to lose the bodyfat and…

After such a tough weekend, it was very hard to get the motivation up to put in the workout today! I was up at my usual time, got in the morning routine, and sort of procrastinated about getting right to the workout. The telephone has been ringing off the hook since Saturday. People are calling trying to get information concerning my cousin's death and details about funeral arrangements. Sort an energy-sapping pall has settled over the house.
I did not want to miss the…

Yesterday ended what turned out to be a not so good week. Toward Wednesday, I really got bummed out about what I perceived to be a definite slowdown in social interaction on my BodySpace page as well as just a bunch of uncertainty as to if and when more positive changes will be made to the website (My naturalmusclemass.net friends, I am more than happy with my experience here. I guess I have to work on building the page.). Furthermore, I really did a lot of running around for the parents…

, and then on to the full bodyweight workout with the 20-pound weighted vest. Before the main workout, I hit my 450 (5 x 90) push-ups and stretching routine. Then I went outside in the beautiful weather. I took my time and really worked on the form for each exercise, given the low reps. I completed my 1-mile walk with the weighted vest after…

A number of different things are on my mind today. Workouts are going very well for this cycle and I am not struggling to maintain my motivation, but am still unhappy and/or concerned about a number of issues. I will address a few of them in this blog. Thus the "Miscellaneous Blog." LOL!
Today's Workout…
