Doctoral student who has decided to change career paths. I believe I can be more effective working in the health and fitness industry than I can in my current profession. I love working out and staying in shape and cannot see myself ever working in any profession where I won't have the time to take care of myself. Right now, because of financial limitations I work out with dumbbells and bodyweight exercises.
What made you get into fitness or why do you want to be into fitness?
I'd worked out intermittently throughout my life. I participated in sports in Junior High School (football, wrestling, and track). Gave it up after I got into high school. I was an academically and musically gifted student and didn't give much thought to staying fit. After 3 degrees, I realized that I was horribly out of shape and began to work on regaining a physically fit body. Also, I realized that I am not a good match for my chosen profession. I'd much rather work with people on physical health issues. To this end, I will be pursuing a physical training certification.
What is your goal for your physique?
At my age (joined this site at 45-See my amateur video below. LOL!), my goal is to build and maintain my muscle mass. I am more worried about being "functionally fit" than having bodybuilder size muscles. I certainly admire those men and women who put in the time and energy to get those phenomenal bodies!

I've been horribly lazy today! I finally got in the walk at around 2:30 this afternoon. I stayed up WAY too late last night and am contemplating a nap even as I type this! LOL!
Anyway, I got out and completed the walk in an absolutely beautiful day! Tomorrow is day 6 and marks the completion of week one of my InterCycle. This is day 3 of my InterCycle! I made the mistake of getting on the scale today! LOL! Not eating much. However, the weight has gone up a bit.
Anyway, I got out there and got a very brisk walk in. Once again, I managed to break a good sweat. Then I actually got out of the house for a few hours and a little rest and relaxation! We finally got a bit of winter here in Virginia. When snow was forecast for yesterday, we were not sure we were going to get it, or if we got it, whether it would stick or not. Well we got it and it stuck! LOL! When I got up to take the dog out this morning, it had stopped, but the ground was white.
